British Airways extends Dubai flight suspension
Doha and Riyadh services scaled back amid uncertainty
DUBAI – British Airways has extended the cancellation of its flights to Dubai and several other Middle East destinations until the end of October, further delaying the airline’s return to key routes across the region.
The UK carrier confirmed that all flights to Dubai International Airport, as well as services to Amman, Bahrain and Tel Aviv, will remain suspended up to and including October 25, 2026. The routes had previously been scheduled to resume from July 1 as part of a phased return of operations.
The latest move comes as airlines continue to monitor conditions across the region and adjust schedules in response to ongoing operational challenges and airspace restrictions.
Middle East flights
British Airways said it has extended reductions to its Middle East flight schedule amid continued uncertainty. An official spokesperson noted that services to and from several destinations, including Abu Dhabi, Amman, Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Riyadh and Tel Aviv, have been affected by cancellations or temporary suspensions.
The airline has also revised operations on other regional routes. Flights between London and Doha will be reduced from two daily services to one daily flight from August 1, while Riyadh services will be cut from twice daily to once daily from August 8.
In a further network adjustment, British Airways confirmed that its route to Jeddah has been permanently suspended.
The airline said it understands that the ongoing situation in the Middle East remains a concern for many customers planning travel in the coming months and has expanded the flexibility available to affected passengers.
What passengers need to now
Customers booked to travel to or from any of the affected destinations up to and including October 31, 2026, can request a full refund, even if their scheduled flight has not been cancelled. The policy applies to tickets for travel between February 28 and October 31, 2026.
Passengers who would rather postpone their journeys can also change their bookings without paying a change fee. British Airways said travellers may move to a later date on the same route or rebook onto another British Airways service, subject to available options.
The latest announcement comes as Dubai International Airport continues to ramp up operations following the full reopening of UAE airspace. While Emirates and flydubai continue to operate extensive, though reduced, schedules, several international carriers have yet to fully restore services to Dubai.
Travellers planning trips to or from the Middle East this summer are being encouraged to check airline schedules regularly and review any updates issued by carriers before departure.
